La gioia del soldato

Nel sogno, suo marito le aveva scritto una lettera d'amore. Finiva così: "Mi sono guardato nello specchio - lo ammetto, dall'apparenza viziosa e poco affidabile - e sono rimasto sorpreso di quanto sia fortunato che tu voglia ancora vivere con me"

Sono le prime frasi di un racconto pubblicato dal New Yorker di Antonya Nelson. Antonya Nelson?  Secondo Andrew Gelman, prof. alla Columbia University - statistics and political science- chiaramente una storia di John Updike. Non abbastanza arrabbiata per essere una storia di John Cheever, non abbastanza forte per essere una storia di Raymond Carver, non abbastanza tranquilla per essere una storia di Richard Ford. Un racconto di John Updike, come forse ne verranno pubblicati altri sul New Yorker.
